Key Word Transformations.


Remember that in this exercise, you need to re-write the information in the first sentence, using the word in bold type, which you can't change in any way, so that the second sentence has exactly the same meaning. You can use only a maximum of FIVE words for each space. Only use contractions for negatives: e.g. don't / hadn't / wouldn't, etc.



1. Rain is possible in southern parts of the country.
May
There in southern parts of the country.

2. A uniform is obligatory for everyone.
Has
Everyone a uniform.

3. I advise you not to drink so much.
Would
If I were you drink so much.

4. "Leave us alone or I'll call the police.
You
If alone, I'll call the police.

5. Paula failed her test because she didn't see the red light.

If the red light, she would not have failed her test.

6. That is certainly not Sue's car becaue she doesn't have a Mercedes.

That Sue's car because she doesn't have a Mercedes.

7. I am sure that is Paul's letter because of the handwriting.

8. Nobody understood the joke because it was in English.

If the joke English, they would have understood it.
